Chief Marketing Officer Mary Beth West is departing from J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) on April 1, after just two years on the job. She has accepted a position as chief growth officer with Hershey Co. (NYSE: HSY), a post she will take over on May 1, 2017.
The C-suite executive who coined J.C. Penney’s “Get Your Penney’s Worth” campaign is leaving the company, the Plano retailer confirmed.
“Mary Beth played an instrumental role in the company’s return to profitability and was a key asset to the leadership team,” J.C. Penney said in a prepared statement. “However, she ultimately decided to relocate to the Northeast where she and her family will be closer to relatives and she can pursue a new opportunity with one of the world’s most iconic food brands.”
