I like simple ideas that use materials I already have lying around.

Good for you on the taters! I've tried leaving some in the ground over winter and never had much success. Does your ground freeze? I always thought mine froze and rotted.

I ordered some seed potatoes from Gurney's this year. On the package, it states to cut the sections and let them dry on a newspaper at room temperature for 2-4 days before planting. I'd never heard of that before? They arrived last Friday, I think I'll put them in the ground Thursday. It's supposed to warm up a little.
