Exxon-BP takeover chatter resurfaces in London
Market rumors in London say Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) has reached out to major BP shareholders regarding a potential takeover, the U.K.'s Evening Standard reports.
XOM and BP have several top shareholders in common, including BlackRock and Vanguard, and according to the chatter, BP is concerned impatient shareholders will urge it to do a deal if it cannot create value on its own, much like Unilever’s decision to launch a review of options after rejecting Kraft Heinz’s bid.
