March 9-The morning began with jalapeno pepper seeds in newspaper pots placed under a grow dome on the table next to the windowsill. And 4 Assange tomato seeds in a salad container. I've sifted soil potting soil from a bag I bought a couple days ago from Lowe's. Most products have the moss, some wetting agent, and forest products. In other words, trash.

On my bus ride to the farm I watched a man eating spaghetti he pulled from the trash barrel at 11th and Tryon. Not that unusual a sight in a large city. I've seen him do it before at the bus stop on 9th.

CC the Calico Cat has become more playful. The Middle Ages in Europe were tough on cats. Superstitions arose from their behavior, like folks believing they could see ghosts. CC often jumps up for now reason to chase something that isn't there. I sometimes think she isn't lonely because she has imaginary playmates.

When I went out to water the lettuce plants I noticed the spigot was missing. My thought was, what has Ali done now? Turns out he had one of the crew move it so no one would run over it. He's a smart man.

This morning I walked all of a half block to NoDa Brewing on N. Davidson to ask about getting spent grain. A nice young man left me his name and number. I'll bring him one of Ali's business cards Friday morning.

I've started on watermelon hill #4. The soil is little easier to remove, and I've added another 6ft timber Rico removed when he moved all that soil. I will have all the tomato boxes amended with coffee grounds by Tuesday. Then Wednesday I'll rent a Uhaul truck to gather 50 buckets of aged horse manure from Bobby's stable.

When I got home I found 8 Cherokee Purple tomato plants had germinated. Nothing net from the first Alma Paprika pepper seeds. I've moved some containers to a windowsill on the third floor where they can receive more sunlight. Maybe they will germinate. If not, I got to a Plan B.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
