March 8-I couldn't get on the computers in the community room. Some of these guys sit down and stay the whole evening.

CC the Calico Cat was waiting for me at the feeding station. I miss Sissy Boy, of course. She doesn't gobble her dry and wet food I put out. Just a nibble and then it's time for action. She followed me across the open space in the lot to her playground with all the pipes and rocks and crevices. She sometimes spends all day lurking.

The brought a couple of Cherokee Purple tomato seedlings and one Giant Syrian tomato seedling with me on the bus. Some have grown true leaves, so I up potted 7 to larger containers. The lettuce plants inside the greenhouse continue to thrive. I hesitate about transplanting. Sunday's weather is looking worse all the time.

The 72ft raised bed next to the modular office which is so infested with Lamb's Quarter finally got tilled. The soil in some places were so compacted the tines barely made a dent. I made several passes until the entire 360 sq ft was tilled to a fluffy consistency about 8 inches deep. Mohammed says he will raise eggplants, what variety, I don't know. Ali says he wants skinny purple eggplant. The one I'm familiar with is called Ping Tung, a Chinese variety.

Ali has hired a new officer worker, a lovely young woman named Layla. I gave her some asparagus spears. More have poked their way through all that hard asphalt. I will eventually remove it and replace with compost.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
