Trump did NOT build the Baku Hotel! Trump had a licensing agreement.
The Trump Organization had performed meticulous due diligence on the company’s partners, but hadn’t researched the allegations against the Baku partner’s father because he wasn’t a party to the deal.
According to Trump's personal financial disclosure form, his company last year received at least $2.5 million to manage the property and lend his name to the project. The hotel itself is owned by Anar Mammadov, a billionaire whose father is the transportation minister in the authoritarian Azerbaijani government.
The Baku Hotel was removed from the Trump website prior to Dec. 10, 2015!
