March 7-There is a drizzle outside this evening, as forecast, which will move eastward overnight, leaving maybe 1/4 inch. It will enough to water the radish and spinach seed I planted this afternoon.

I seeded 20 more newspaper cups with Quadrado d'Asti Rosso (red bell pepper ) seeds. That's it until I get more from those two seed orders placed Monday evening. On a trip to Lowe's for more potting soil I bought a packet of jalapeno seeds and some Bloomsdale Long Standing spinach. This variety is one of the oldest known. Thomas Jefferson grew it at Monticello.

Snapper at the glass shop had a surprise for me: more than a dozen 2x4s from a crate that arrived late Monday. He cut 10 into 40 inch lengths. I will nail up 40X17 inch boxes. I should complete the first layer later this month. That portion of the farm Rico destroyed is slowly coming back together. I even completed watermelon hill #3.

I miss Sissy Boy, that wimped out tomcat, who remains missing for a second day. After he was neutered he put on a little weight, then a lot of weight. Too much. My thinking now is he developed a condition that caused the weight gain. Maybe his poor little heart was no longer able to pump all that blood into all that fat. It will always remain a mystery. That cat was quite affectionate and I certainly loved him back.

CC, the Calico Cat, shows no signs of missing her baby son. Cats are so independent minded it takes years for them to develop what humans understand as an emotional bond for each other. She did allow me to tickle her chin for a few minutes. Usually she allows perhaps less than a minute before signalling that enough is enough.

A cool to cold spell is forecast for Sunday. High of 45. I hesitate at transplanting more lettuce until it passes.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
