Had started to post yesterday that offshore movement of labor will actually be a problem when competing against AM.
The manufacturing methods used in Asia and India will not be able to compete in terms of cost, performance, time-to-market or environmental impact. They are going to be facing some serious internal problems as a result.
They need to start adopting AM technology as soon as practical to minimize the disruption of that part of their economies. China seems to have some understanding of what the future will likely yield.
The US manufacturing sector will suffer the same problems but we have less mfg. industry momentum and hopefully will be able to adopt at a faster pace. Conventional mfg. will likely continue, although much reduced and probably more the domain of artisans in the distant future. IMO
