I thought Intel and Rockchip had some kind of collaborative deal......this guy says the Samsung Chromebook is based on an ARM SOC from Rockchip.........what's up with that???

Well it isn't an exclusive deal. And really I wonder what the deal is in aid of since Atom isn't going to compete there. That Chromebook has a lovely 1600x2400 display and can operate as a good touch tablet as well so I'd guess that's where the money goes. The ARM processor in it is a lot more current than ARM Chromebook offerings have been in the past even if not the very best in performance and power, most ARM Chromebooks have had some really shoddy stuff rather like the dregs of the PC laptop market and left the quality stuff to Intel.

Besides nipping at the heel of the Intel Chromebooks the new thing here is that Google is getting Android apps to run on Chromebook - and the games will often have ARM code that would need to be emulated if run on an Intel Chromebook.
