In my opinion, and it is purely only that, if Intersystems was considering a buyout, it would've happened by now. If they are familiar with the software, and we assume they are, they already know about it's capabilities and drawbacks. They've known about it all for quite a long time. Yet, there's been no movement for a buyout or anything else for that matter. They are either not interested or LF doesn't want to sell. My bet is that they are not interested. If they were, we'd all be sitting pretty.
