Feb. 19-Eric stripped and waxed the floor in the community room on Sunday, so I couldn't make a diary entry. A robin, the first I've seen, landed on a raised bed in search of worms. While piddling around the shed I spotted a Lady Beetle resting on a piece of aluminum pipe. Both creatures will have lots to eat in the months ahead. I put in more lettuce seedlings, and planted more carrot, spinach, and radish seeds. I had a go with the bed beneath the ledge, raking up the clay clogs. It will take a few days but I'll get it leveled and ready for seeding. My first watermelon hole has been dug and ready to be filled for hill #1. Although it was a chore, I got out the tiller and wheeled around the office and up to the slope where I tilled a trench. I will pull down the tilled soil and spade into the hole to make a hill. I also tilled a bit next to the raised bed to loosen up what Rico and his machine compacted in a hard surface. The soil is almost like concrete. It will take a soaking rain to loosen it enough to make for easier tilling.

He looks at you like you owe him money.
