I rarely use a laptop anymore, only when I have to when traveling. Most of my basic use is done on a phone, luxury computing time is done on desktop.

I use a laptop almost all of the time, except when I am moving around, working out or in my car. Even for Whatsapp and Viber chats, I use the web versions on my laptop whenever I can - so that I can type quickly and easily.

BTW, I agree that people who need only communications and basic Internet access - and can afford only one device - will go in for a smartphone. But anyone who can afford both devices will be doing themselves a disfavor by not buying a PC (or a Mac).
