Daytona 500 Qualifying: Sunday's qualifying only locks in the front row for the following week's Daytona 500, but it will also determine 2 of the 4 starting positions that aren't guaranteed to teams with charters before the race. The 2 fastest of the non-locked in teams will be assured spots, regardless of how they finish in Thursday's qualifying races. The qualifying will also determine the starting lineups for the qualifying races.
How the Field is Set - 2017 Daytona 500
- First 2 positions determined by Sunday's qualifying
- 36 of 40 starters already determined by charter teams
- Top non-qualified finisher in each of Thursday's qualifying races are locked in
- Fastest 2 non-qualified drivers Sunday are locked into field (ESPN Stats)(2-19-2017)
