These Bayer Patents (see links below) that QMC bought may turn out to be quite important to QMC given Samsung's latest qdot improvements in their latest TVs (see article link below). From what I can tell from reading both, it appears QMC has the rights to do what Samsung is likely doing, but QMC owns the rights to do it with continuous flow. Let's hope that's the case. Samsung keeps leading the way with improvements and I'm hoping QMC can play follow the leader, but use continuous flow to differentiate themselves.

QLED is a two-part technology using its second-generation, metal shell Quantum Dots (different sized two-to-ten-nanometre dots that emit RGB – red, green and blue colours)

Multistage surface modification procedure of semiconducting nanoparticles for use in hybrid solar cells and printable electronics
EP 2617078 A1 (text from WO2012035005A1)
ABSTRACT
The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of semiconducting nanoparticles wherein in a step A semiconducting nanoparticles comprising long-chain insulating primary ligands are dispersed in a volatile dispersion solvent capable of dissolving insulating primary ligands and precipitated using a washing agent. TGA-MS analysis shows that the treatment according to the method of the present invention allows complete removal of the outer layer of synthesis ligands on the surface of prepared nanoparticles and improves removal of synthesis ligands on the surface of prepared nanoparticles. The present invention also relates to semiconducting nanoparticles, ink formulation and electronic devices comprising the semiconducting nanoparticles obtainable by the procedure of the invention.

Process for the synthesis of nanosize metal-containing nanoparticles and nanoparticle dispersions
US 7833506 B2
ABSTRACT
The invention relates to a process for producing morphologically uniform and virtually monodisperse metal-containing nanoparticles, characterized in that the separation both in time and space of the nucleation and growth processes is achieved by regulation of the temperature and volume flows, with the reaction and particle formation preferably being initiated and carried out in a suitable microstructured modular reactor system. Modularization of the microreaction plant (micro heat exchanger, residence reactor, micromixer, etc.) allows optimal setting of the respective chemical and process-engineering process parameters and thus the preparation of virtually monodisperse and morphologically uniform nanoparticles.

Continuous synthesis of high quantum yield inp/zns nanocrystals
EP 2785897 A1 (text from WO2013079423A1)
ABSTRACT
The invention relates to a continuous-flow synthesis process for the preparation of high quality indium phosphide/zinc sulfide core/shell semiconduting nanocrystals in particular quantum dots (QD) conducted in a micro-reaction system comprising at least one mixing chamber connected to one reaction chamber.
