Back when Roe v. Wade was making it through the courts, I really paid no attention. I was busy turning down offers of employment and decided to hang my own shingle. I borrowed 5 thousand bucks and began my career. The only person paid in my office was my legal secretary for the first year and a half. I took appointed cases to pay her while I developed clients and worked on cases that would not go to trial for a couple of years. I caught fast pitch softball 4 nights a week and umped baseball or refereed basketball depending on the season for extra money. I also played poker once a week for meal money. I knew my cases against the firms that I turned down would be 5 lawyers against one so sleep was secondary. I got a break when an old lawyer gave me the names and phone numbers of the expert witnesses that the big firms used and he told me to hire them before I sent my demand letter. He turned a greenhorn into a new force with his advice. It was tough, but I would do it again. I have been able to live a great life without ever having a boss for nearly 50 years.

Sorry for the diversion and back to the Roe case. I was sent this by my old legal secretary who is 90 years old. It is interesting. I have no dog in the hunt. I understand the arguments of both sides without the passion. I thought I would share.
