I found an interesting comment posted on my last article by Lane Simonian, an SA Contributor. Following is his comment:

The decline in NAD+ is an important factors in the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Not only is the result a decline in cellular energy it also lowers levels of reduced glutathione [GSH in chart below] which is a critical antioxidant in the brain. Without glutathione, the brain has little ability to protect itself against oxidative stress.
