He said Diwan had a good reputation but did not know him personally. And what he read of what Diwan wrote all make good sense, though it was rather basic in nature - not a break through. The science of the original idea was sound. The risk was in the implementation; scale-up (his term for making a lot of material that was consistent with regard to key parameters) and ligand optimization ( which he admitted was somewhat outside his field of expertise). He did say that ligand optimization was likely to be a complex-3D molecular modeling problem for which there was no rapid (first-principles-based) solution....rather it was more like huntin for a needle in a haystack. He did say that if Diwan were to have a not widely known solution to that part of the problem he would be more optimistic. But none of the stuff he read suggested that NNVC had made such a break through,
