I've been going out of Waukegan Harbor, just north of Chicago. The picture below is what Chicago looked like on one of my trips.

I've managed to catch coho, chinook, rainbows, and lake trout. The smaller coho is my favorite for eating. I like to soak them in teryaki marinade over night and cook them on the grill.

I've been smoking some of them. I'm new to the smoker so still trying to get the timing figured out. They've all been good, some better than others.

I have also been blackening the salmon on an open fire and a hot iron skillet, that's good for taking away most of the strong fishy taste. I've found that I like that better with catfish, crappie and bluegill fillets. When you have a freezer full of salmon, you have to figure out different ways to cook it. lol

The Kings are my favorite for catching. They fight much harder and have an extra gear that the others can't match.

Here's a link to the Captain we have booked for July.

Captain Jim Goebel runs the Long Gone III. We took it out a couple of times last year and I'd highly recommend him.
