I wanted to really make a point of the dollar impact if one had invested for the last 5 years in 3x funds vs 1x.
In order to be a fair comparison, the risk levels have to be very close. So my gains are calculated on the basic of investing $3,000 in a 1x fund and only $1,000 in a 3x fund. This keeps the risk about the same.
So by either investing $3K or $1K, this is the dollar gain one would have had at the end of 2016 after 5 years

TNA $3744
QQQ $3763
TQQQ $6485
I will not even address the situation of being gutsy enough to have invested all of ones funds in a 3x fund.
Do note the big hit that TNA took in 2015.
