The NC courts say Carter assigned ownership rights.

(13) Mr. Carter is the inventor named in an October 9, 2003 application (the “Application”) for a United States Patent entitled “AUTOMATED AUDIO VIDEO MESSAGING AND ANSWERING SYSTEM.”

(17) On July 17, 2006, Mr. Carter assigned his entire right, title, and interest in the Application to RCI-NV.

(19) At the time this action was filed, RCI-NV was the assignee of the patent and had rights to prosecute the patent. Mr. Carter no longer had such rights.

Source: Judgment of Judge Gale delivered March 20th 2012 in the case of Revolutionary Concepts, Inc. v. Clements Walker PLLC.

Carter's personal claim for lost international patent rights was summarily dismissed, because he had no ownership interest in the patents after July 2006.

That's not my opinion. It's the opinion of a NC judge.
