Let's try to post it this way:

The contention I believe is over the use of the words, THEY and WE. So, did the FDA impose the cross over arm or did NWBO themselves impose it into their trial? Guess what, it doesn't really matter!

Crossover is increasingly favored in trials of cancer therapies; even those that seek to establish the basic efficacy of novel drugs. Crossover is done in part for trial recruitment, but also out of a sense of doing the right thing—offering the investigational agent to more patients.

There is an ethical reason why MANY clinical trials allow crossover to occur. And guess what, you can still separate the data from early to late and there are strategies to do this. Does it muddy the waters to have a built in crossover? YEP. Does it help to get more patients into a clinical trial that has a crossover? YEP. As stated, is it morally and ethically needed to have crossovers in clinical trial so patients don't just receive a placebo? YEP. Can you still obtain approval when a crossover is built into the trail design? YEP

Dr Liau discusses at 28.50 into the presentation:

What might be the reason for THE WHOLE GROUP DOING BETTER? I can think of one common denominatorsmile
