Not true. Not true. Not true. The BIGGEST gateway drug is and always has been nicotine...something legal! Look it up. Any addiction researcher will tell you the same. Research just doesn't support the idea that MJ use leads to drug addiction. As for herion...as Shelly indicated...prescription pain killers are opiod-based....so would make sense that heroin follows...but there too...only 12% of those using pain killers go on to become addicted...and that's to pain killers... Not necessarily heroin.
