Interesting ruling from CAFC today - patents NOT killled by Alice : 101

Key quote page 6

"The court held that rather than reciting a mathematical algorithm, a fundamental economic or longstanding commercial practice, or a challenge in business the challenged patents solve problems of prior graphical user interface devices, relating to speed, accuracy and usability"

Moreover, the ruling talks about ideas that have "not long existed" - basically it's says the patent can be eligible under 101 Alice step one rule, if it has not existed long. Clearly, this case will come into play for WDDD appeal as it should kill any 101 fear. Much of the issue/debate here over prior art was about "timing"
