Warrants-I think i get it but now have a bigger question.

March 2012 - about 1.2 million units of GALTU were sold for a little over $10 million which went to the company treasury. Each unit consisted of two shares of common stock, and one warrant to purchase a common share for $5.63 and expires five years later (about two months from now). Some of the units were separated but the ones that are still in tact trade under GALTU.

GALTW are the warrants after owners of GALTU separated the shares and warrants. Each warrant is right to purchase a common share for $5.63 and unless the stock price hits $5.63 in two months they're worthless. Yet, the last three trading days 300,000 warrants traded. Huh? And two weeks ago they traded for about 5 cents each and the last three days they hit up to 46 cents. WTF? who would pay 46 cents when they could get a share at a buck?

OK - so lets go over to GALTU and look at its recent trading. The volume the last three trading days was about 80,000 units. OK, so you get two shares of common plus a warrant so they have some value - the two shares alone is worth about $2.28. Two weeks ago they were trading just under $2.00 which makes sense. But the last three days they traded as high as $19 and closed on Friday at $8.40. Huh? Why would any one buy these when they could pick up three shares of common stock for a little over $3. WTF? What am I missing. Or if it works the way I think is someone really that unsofisticated to burn money?

hmm, let me look at the common stock - share price went up but nothing earth shattering, but the volume on Friday was almost 2 million, which is much higher than when the FX trial results bombed us.
