If you actually have to prove a case in a court of law, insurance companies would not be so willing to settle cases thinking that it will be cheaper to do so than to defend the doctor. If doctors convicted of malpractice lost their acredidation, we would actually be ridding the profession of those the lawyers tell us are so numerous, but, they would have to prove their cases. As it stands now, a doctor could have dozens of injured patients and still be practicing.
