Chuck Chauviere, GE’s president of drilling systems, didn't give a timeline for the digital transformation. No doubt that they have target developments set at some level within the organization. I expect that they will build onshore fleet based solutions for maintenance, repair, and overhaul long before there's significant off-shore capabilities. The amount of low volume, high value components associated with oil and gas is probably significant and a where additive manufacturing would be an excellent capability and solution to time sensitive maintenance.

I don't believe that there is any additive manufacturing information at the links below but I found them quite interesting.
The Petroleum Equipment & Services Association held a Oil & Gas 101: Preparing Future Energy Leaders for a New Global Market seminar in September. It looks like the topics were covered extensively to some depth and directed to people new to the field. If anyone's interested in the history, present, and future of drilling/oil&gas, there are some excellent presentations in the additional resources link.
