They aren't the same at increasing NAD+. They are related as being part of the vitamin B family. But, different pathways are taken for increasing NAD+ and niacin isn't as efficient as Niagen in that regard. For example, brain and skeletal muscle can’t use niacin to boost NAD+. I view brain and muscle as especially important as we age. If I had a high cholesterol problem I'd add Niacin to my supplements, but, it certainly can't be a substitute for the benefits of Niagen.

I take 500mg flush free niacin for my HDL. Is niagin a related product? Thanks.
