The simple answer to your question is, yes. No serious institution and almost all hedge funds are not able to own otc bb or pink sheet stocks. Then there are regularly listed nyse, amex, nasdaq stocks that are under $5 or a certain market cap that that they are not really allowed to own. There are always exceptions, but those are few and far between and almost always for already listed exchange stocks, not for otcbb's and pink sheets.
