Higher gasoline prices are bad news for refineries as oil prices have risen faster than gasoline prices, leaving refineries operating at a loss for now.

The opposite happens when oil prices decline and refineries expand their margins until competitions drives down the price of gasoline.

We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
