Poor Bobby and Ryan just couldn't pay to keep the website active any longer so it went dormant. For some, unexplained, reason the cannabis company acquired the URL for use in their business.
I have also seen a company that sells corporate registrations so that a brand new company can 'acquire' history and essentially say that they were formed 5, 10 or 20 years ago instead of 5 weeks ago. Generally, the longer the registration had been active, the more valuable it is to sell. Not sure if that is the case here, but they could have acquired the corporate registration (out of Delaware, maybe?) and received the URL as part of the package deal.
