It's not "dead" at all.

Appears to me, the extreme delay is about the need for cash to complete the mission at hand.

I firmly believe Mr Day will get this completed, as it's very personal to him from what I have read.

Overly optimistic speculation, creates unrealistic expectations, resulting in extreme disappointment.
