Is yours an AT&T Go Phone? That's what I have.
Call someone on it. If you're affected, you'll get a message telling you your 2G phone will not work on the AT&T network after 12/31/16. The message will tell you to go to the AT&T store.
If you don't get the message, don't worry about it.
If you do, don't waste your time going to the AT&T store.
I went and was told I needed a letter with a bar code in order for them to make the exchange. Since I load it with a prepaid card they don't have my home information, ergo no letter.
Solution: call 611 from your cell phone. Explain that you have a 2G phone and need to make an exchange. They will take your information (the number on the phone and your home address) and put in an order for the replacement phone.
It's frustrating since the call center is manned by nice folks with heavy Spanish accents. Sigh. Your infinite patience will serve you well.
When Trump brings back manufacturing, he should also strong arm these companies into bringing the help desks back into the U.S. so we can understand what the "helpers" are saying. JMO
