Bulls and bears can both make money but pigs get slaughtered.

Allow me to translate to anticipate a question, and I don't mean to be pedantic or didactic.

Those who press their case, be they bulls or bears, beyond the facts - I am speaking of those who adopt a position based on orthodoxy rather than evidence - will eventually get crushed by the market.

At the moment the market is saying the bulls have no cause for euphoria. But come January that could change very abruptly. Markets do not anticipate abrupt change because they can't. All they can do is react. The severity of the reaction will depend on how stretched the rubber band is.
