I know everyone is excited about America Makes, I am also, but it is a government grant that GE has to work on but does not have to adapt the final results of the project. I worked with grants in biotech firms for years and we never ended up using the final results/project. We did it for the grant money or it didn't not turn out as expected, but we still finished the work.

The reason I think this is from the last CC where Mark qualified his lockstep comment about GE, he said we are in lockstep on the America Makes project, not lockstep for production. This qualifier was pretty worrying to me.

I guess what I am saying is just because GE got a tiny grant (relative to their R&D budget) does not mean they will adapt this into their business practices.

I am still long on sglb but it is getting tougher to be.
