Here's an interesting theory on Trump's popularity with the US public -
It's no secret that in recent decades the US population has become more self centered and narcissistic, not just powerful people at the top but also the entire population including the average Joe and Jane Six-pack.
It turns out that narcissistic people enjoy watching high profile narcissistic people getting away with being narcissistic. When people see Trump shooting off his mouth with wild abandon, they vicariously get off on it since that's what they themselves would like to do also if only they could.
Thanks to TV and movies, we've become a nation of voyeurs, and in Trump we have found a champion, allowing us to indirectly express our own narcissism.
