I would be that FiberTower understand the potential of mmWave spectrum more than nearly anyone else on the planet. They failed in their efforts to commercialize it.

In an earlier responses, I referred to this as them as having "Pushed on a Rope." They were way too early. FiberTower wanted to back haul cell towers. Their solution had better economics than fiber. AT&T and Verizon both fiddled with tests and elected not to use it.

StraightPath is more heavily emphasizing 5G, Small Cells, and enterprise networks than cellular backhaul.

FiberTower was not a predecessor of StraightPath. It was a separate company. Now that it has emerged from bankruptcy we can say it is a separate company.
