There are so many apps out there, I find it hard to believe they would be able to get a patent. Even if they did manage to get a patent doesn't mean it's worth anything or would even sell. I remember when I developed a B2B application for manufacturers. Application was great, just couldn't sell it. Main reason being I didn't have deep enough pockets to get it to market.
