The day after the high price a week ago, volume was only 1.8m shares, so while yes they theoretically could be sitting there with all those shares, I'm thinking they didn't do that because they would have sold at those higher prices, but the $1.8m was almost certainly day traders. And, while we sometimes see VFIN on the ask, it really doesn't look like there is much convertible selling to me. I think 90%+ is day traders.
So, with a major increase in demand by investors any such conversion of shares won't be sellable even for a very long time.
SO, it has to be addressed. The stock price should reflect the company performance but it may not even get close to that because of this looming uncertainty.
No one wins. At least not anytime soon. Some kind of lock of shares or buyout would be much better for everyone involved, it seems to me.
