IDA really didn't hurt Effingham taxpayers with the MEDT/FONU fiasco... As bad as stockholders got taken in the fraud, Taxpayers were out a couple hundred thousand dollars, but basically sold Manu a tract of swampland for which they never got paid... By improving the well and making a road, they now have made the rest of the tract much more marketable, and they also have attracted a lot of other very profitable tenants for the Industrial Park...

Now I'm certainly not saying there is no fault or complacency on the part of IDA, but the big picture, says Effingham didn't lose a lot... but the shareholders did...
