I think rates are critical for the markets. The markets have so far ignored the higher rates, but they will be detrimental for housing (locally, housing prices are absolutely insane) and for stocks. I just do not see how Trump's plan to increase Federal spending on infrastructure while significantly lowering taxes is going to work given that the deficits will increase substantially. And with the stronger US$, the trade deficits will also dramatically increase. Debt is the global economy's Achilles' heel.
