That was a race for the ages, as you wrote. It was exciting, thrilling, suspenseful, sweet---and yet sad. Sad that the game Songbird lost and sad that Beholder is retiring. Yet, one had to win and the dame with the experience and a jockey who said he was an old man and happy that he got the chance to ride this great horse.
Both horses got great rides from their jockeys; I'd bet a dollar to a donut that no one plays the video back, thinking how they could have done a better job with their rides.
Beholder won by a chin whisker and she goes out a champ.
The boys in tomorrow's races have a big hurdle: they have to beat the ladies who put on the greatest show so far this year.
