The glove kit is now available for purchase on the company website
DRAPER, Utah, Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. (FLXT) today announced the company has launched the Flexpoint Bend Sensor® Glove Kit. The company continually receives numerous weekly requests for Bend Sensors® for a wide array of glove-based applications. Each of those inquiries includes requests for sensors and questions about how the sensors can be incorporated into either existing electronics or designed electronic systems. In some cases, Flexpoint engineers are called upon to work collaboratively with the customer on a custom sensor design.
In order to shorten the development time and assist in the implementation of our sensors into future applications, Flexpoint has developed and made the Glove Kit available. According to Paul Sexauer, Flexpoint VP Sales & Marketing, "The Glove Kit is purposely designed for engineers to immediately discover how easy it is to implement a glove solution that provides for the sense of touch and manipulation of objects through movement of the hand and fingers, as well as streamline development efforts into their commercial products."
The software depicts a 3D hand that mimics in real-time the orientation of the wrist, hand and position of the fingers with respect to the hand. It integrates multiple sensors, including the Bend Sensor®, which are used to derive the orientation of the fingers. The hardware provides easy interface to the PC through USB and wireless adaptation is planned in future releases. Schematics and all development codes are provided for the engineer to view and to be used as a basis for migration and evolution into their own unique application.
The market for glove applications is far reaching and includes industries like the soon to be multi-billion dollar virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR) industry, as well as medical wearables, robotics, toys, industrial, music and many other market segments.
The Bend Sensor® based technology features high reliability along with an extensive life span. It is lighter and less obtrusive to the fingers than other technologies and provides the least complicated way of measuring finger position over other sensor methods. Price/performance is unparalleled by any other sensing technologies.
