Female Veterans Just Released This Anti-Trump Ad and It’s Devastating
Zach Cartwright | October 27, 2016
In perhaps the most explosive ad of the election season, female veterans are personally speaking out against Donald Trump’s misogyny and bluster.
The ad, which is called “Blue Falcon,” is produced by the Common Defense PAC. Its website describes itself as “a diverse group of male and female veterans” who, along with their military experience, are also well-versed in “strategic communications, political finance, public speaking, and campaign strategy.” Common Defense PAC’s national leadership team includes representation from the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Army Reserves, and Air National Guard.
In the ad itself, women from various branches of the military describe their military service, their disgust with the Republican presidential nominee, and their commitment to stopping him from becoming president due to his rash decision-making and bellicose rhetoric.
“As a migrant, I wanted to give something back to this country that had given me and my family so much. So I became an Army combat medic,” said veteran Wendy Barranco. “When you’re fighting to save a fellow soldier’s life, things get real very quickly. You have to trust your team.”
The commonly accepted definition of “Blue Falcon” is someone who betrays their fellow soldiers. In military slang, it’s a polite euphemism for “buddy fucker.”
Common Defense PAC is currently attempting to crowdfund $30,000 [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/women-vets?refcode=20161027_dk ] in order to target up to half a million voters in swing states around the country in the last week and a half before Election Day. According to liberal blog Daily Kos, the PAC has already raised more than half the money they’re seeking.
