I read a messages on some message board
who invested on FCEL from 1990's
for more than 20 years
during that 20 years period time there has been 4 splits
starting from 3 for 2 on 11/17/1999
let's say he invested $10,000 on FCEL on Nov 01 of 1999
16 days before the split
on Nov.01 of 1999 FCEL PPS was $51.00 let's say he purchased 200 shares at $50 which is $10,000
and 16 days later 3 for 2 split executed
now he has 300 shares
and a year later 2 for 1 split was executed on 09/14/2000
now he owns 600 shares and another split executed on 06/20/2001
for 2 for 1
now he has 1200 shares number of shares are increasing
but reverse split of 1 for 12 happened on 12/04/2015
now he only owns 50 shares of stock at $3.75 not $50.00
now he sees $187.50 on his portfolio instead of $10,000

I had 10,000 shares of FCEL on 2013 but now I only have 833 shares
and lost about 80% of it's value
