Bigworld, Fwiw, In an effort to beat the rush, I finished stocking up on ammo recently. I was surprised that the local gun shops haven't been as crowded as several months ago, although I haven't gone on the weekends. Seems like the supply of ammo is still plentiful too, so maybe they learned from the last several elections to stock up in anticipation.

Still thinking about getting a Benelli Supernova 12 gauge pump, to supplement my 20 gauge. They're available for just under $500 which is a great deal for a Benelli. The other one I'd like to get is the Browning BLR advanced lever action, but these are up around $900 new, though I did see a lightly used one for $650. I really don't need another deer rifle though, so really can't justify the purchase, but the BLR is by far the most advance level action rifle ever made.

The anti-gun crowd will be going after semi-autos first, so from that standpoint, bolt and level action are the way to go for rifles. Traditional lever actions have a lot of disadvantages though, among them the inability to use modern 'pointy' ammo since with the usual tube feed design the tip of the ammo is directly behind the primer of the next round, so with pointy ammo the recoil can set off the next cartridge in the tube. What Browning did with the BLR was to use a box magazine, so you can don't have to use blunt tipped ammo, which is far less accurate than pointy ammo. The BLR can also shoot magnum rounds since it has a bolt/lever design.
