SHORT VOLUME vs SHORT INTEREST:

The problem appears to be a lack of understanding the difference between short VOLUME and short INTEREST.

Short volume is meaningless data on this market, it's well known that Short Volume does not equate to a short position. This is a Two Tier market - that is when a market maker must be used to complete a trade transaction, the initial leg is always going to be marked short.

However that doesn't include the last leg which completes the transaction as closed, REG SHO awaits the settlement period of T+3 days, that's Federal Law.

Stating short volume is Shorting, a Short position, or Short interest is FALSE, purely misinformation. End of story.

Never attribute to malice that which
can be adequately explained by
stupidity, but don’t rule out malice.
