Zachary Davis Esq. is Of Counsel to Medical Marijuana Business Lawyers and serves as a Cannabis Business Application specialist. He was introduced to the field of Marijuana Law when he was contacted by a long standing , well known Colorado company seeking assistance in obtaining one of the five coveted regional marijuana licenses under the Florida Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act of 2014 (the Act). Mr. Davis was hired to negotiate contracts, assemble a team and oversee the application for the Colorado company.
Finding the right nursery for the client required creative action and Mr. Davis successfully enrolled a highly qualified nursery. Given the significant financial opportunity provided by the license, it was no surprise that nurseries and trade associations filed multiple Petitions in an effort to influence the rules. Upon the advice of Mr. Davis, his client filed a petition. Much of Mr. Davis’s knowledge of Florida Marijuana Law began by attending negotiated rule-making sessions and administrative rule-making workshops. At these administrative proceedings Mr. Davis met with lobbyists, multiple nursery owners as well as members of the Florida House of Representatives. These relationships are valuable resources available to Mr.Davis. Mr. Davis used this knowledge to author an application geared towards the underlying concerns of the Department of Health.
While serving his client, Mr. Davis negotiated deals, wrote million dollar contracts, assembled a winning team of various professionals and was responsible for the submission of a 700 page application. Mr. Davis has the unique experience of overseeing both the business and legal side of the marijuana industry and uses this knowledge for the benefit of other clients.
Mr. Davis received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. Mr. Davis is a second generation lawyer who graduated Magna Cum Laude, was recognized by B’nai B’rith and received the Frederick J. Damski Memorial Book Award in Constitutional Law.
