$TBEV Don’t Let Myths Come In Your Way –Learn the Truth about Sports Drinks
We always seem to form opinions first and try things later. Whether it is a person or a just a thing, they all get surrounded by fallacious rumors which we believe in just as quickly as they surface. Similar is the case with a sports drink. Many athletes fear that sports drinks are going to affect their health and have a negative impact on their body. These rumors have led them to believe that sports drinks could result in bad performance.
Most of these myths surrounding sports drinks are either false or are based solely on one brand of sports drink and its ingredients. Let’s separate the truth from the rumors:
1. Sports Drinks Should Be Ingested As Much As Possible:
This myth is false. It is commonly believed that drinking as much as humanly possible will save us from dehydration; however, it is not always the case. Our body loses fluids more quickly through sweating than we can replace it with drinking. Therefore, all that matters is to consume a drink, like High-performance Beverage, which can give us all the necessary nutrients we require in just with a few sips. It will not only save us from dehydration, but will also prevent us from getting hit by hyponatremia – which results from excessive drinking.
2. Sugar Is Good For Workouts:
This myth is not actually a myth but very much a truth. When it is said that sugar is somewhat beneficial for sudden bursts of energy and for maintaining a high endurance level, we are referring to glucose and glycogen. However, drinks like Gatorade and PowerAde contain sugars in their simplest forms, those which are not only bad in terms of the calories they have, but may also cause addiction due to the sweet rush. It is better to get sports drinks with zero amount of sugar.
3. More the Caffeine, Better the Drink:
This myth is misleading. While caffeine is known to energize and alert our body, it only happens when a moderate amount of caffeine is consumed. Sports drinks having too much caffeine begin to affect us a little more than what is necessary. Instead of making us active, it creates jitters; instead of providing us energy, it begins to cause distress. So, any sports drinks with a high amount of caffeine should be kept miles away.
High Performance beverage is one of the few ones that contain no sugar and only a moderate amount of caffeine. It provides the athletes with sharp mental focus, long-lasting stamina and just the right amount of energy to reach the finish line.
