My take is that insurance is a kind of exclusionary socialism in which the most extreme risks are excluded and became a governmental problem like flood insurance for instance. Seems a bit odd that you consider the poor and infirmed to be a powerful group these people aren’t going to make much more of an impact if you charge them a sales tax. As long as we maintain a for profit socialism that can exclude anyone who costs more than they pay things are not going to improve.
