Donald Trump and His Supporters Continue Assault On America

by Gabe Ortiz on October 12, 2016

Since the launch of his Presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s violent rhetoric has become an inspiration for unapologetic racists. We launched the “Trump Hate Map .. http://americasvoice.org/trumphatemap/ ” as a result of this disturbing trend of physical and verbal violence, with one of the first entries that of the brutal assault of a homeless Latino man at the hands of two Trump supporters in Boston in August 2015.

[...]

Abdul’s father attributes the harassment he and his family have endured directly to Donald Trump’s rhetoric and dark vision for America. “Times are changing and it’s not the America we always thought of and believed in. It’s not the America that I studied in,” he told Buzzfeed. “If Trump wins, America will be great again, but a great that nobody will care about.”

Sadly, Abdul’s story is not unique. An April report .. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-effect-southern-poverty-law-center_us_570e8619e4b03d8b7b9f2836 .. from the Southern Poverty Law Center, “The Trump Effect: The Impact of the Presidential Campaign on our Nation’s Schools .. http://www.splcenter.org/trump-effect ,” noted not only more fear and anxiety from immigrant and minority students, but also an increase of “more openly racist and vicious bullying” of immigrant and minority students since the start of the 2016 Presidential election:

It's curious that the investigations into the alleged bullying of Abdul Aziz have come up with no evidence of it at all. For one I don't believe he would have just made this up.

A Huffington Post article .. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/muslim-family-fled-america-islamophobia-usmani_us_57fd058fe4b0e655eab7aa3c?section=&; .. originally posted Wednesday adds that Abdul Aziz told his parents a classmate had tried to force him to eat food that wasn’t halal. When Abdul Aziz refused, five of his classmates ganged up on him, making fun of his name. They punched him in the face, kicked him in the stomach, and twisted his arm while calling him “Muslim” again and again, Usmani told the Huffington Post.

and i don't believe Usmani would have moved back to Pakistan if his family had not suffered
considerable racism over the years they have spent in the U.S.A. Many in Australia suffer the same.

One thing is clear. No reasonable person could legitimately deny that Trump's fear-mongering campaign rhetoric is doing longer-term damage to American society.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
